What Is the Music Theory Workbench?
The Music Theory Workbench combines a scale explorer, chord constructor, interval analyzer, key inspector and tap-tempo utility in one compact composition desk. Notes are shown on an interactive piano and in formula form, diatonic harmony is calculated from the selected key, and every scale, interval and chord can be auditioned through the browser's local audio engine. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
How It Works
Choose a root note and open the Scale, Chord, Interval, Tempo or Key module. Select a scale or mode to see its notes and formula, construct triads and extended chords, compare two pitches by interval, tap a beat to estimate tempo, or inspect a key signature and its diatonic chords. Use the playback controls to hear the result and move directly into the Circle Of Fifths or Chord Progression Studio when you want to compose with it.
When to Use It
Use it while learning harmony, checking a song key, finding chord tones, teaching a lesson, transposing an idea, programming MIDI, or validating a progression before recording.

- Does the workbench play sound?
- Yes. It synthesizes short reference tones with the Web Audio API after you press a playback control. Audio stays entirely on your device.
- Which scales and chords are included?
- The workbench includes major, natural, harmonic and melodic minor plus the diatonic modes, along with common triads, suspended chords, sixths and seventh chords.
- Is this a tuner or microphone analyzer?
- No. It is a theory and reference workspace and does not access the microphone. Use an instrument tuner for intonation and pitch detection.
